Beyond the classroom, our students have the opportunity to engage in a wide variety of school-sponsored activities.
Our academic program is further enriched by extracurricular programs and experiences.
Free tutoring is available after school for all grade levels. Times vary according to tutor, grade level, and subject.
University Academy students in grades 5-8 have the opportunity to participate in organized sports. We offer basketball for both boys and girls as well as girls cheerleading and girls volleyball. These sports are free, and take place after school.
Clubs change annually based on student and teacher interest. We encourage students to bring their ideas.
Field trips offer a chance for students to learn outside the classroom. Field trips are provided over the course of the school year. Information regarding additional trips, times and location will be provided to the parents by classroom teachers and administration.
K-8 students have the opportunity to participate in a Martial Arts Program. Martial Arts is a great way for both boys and girls to achieve fitness and focus. This program takes place after school from 4 pm – 5:30 pm, and does not include student transportation. The initial startup fee is $20, which includes uniform, in addition to $10 per month. Students need to be qualified, both academically and behaviorally, to be able to participate. Registration is available at the front desk for students who are interested.
Akron residents: Students living over 2 miles from University Academy may benefit from free bus transportation provided by Petermann.
